Welcome to OBWeb, the official web site of the OB Division!

Sandra Robinson

The Organizational Behavior [OB] Division is the largest division within the Academy of Management, with more than 6000 members and growing everyday. We are a group of scholars devoted to studying and understanding individuals and groups within organizational contexts. Please have a look at our domain statement if you would like to learn more about our focus.

With such a large membership and broad mission, it would be easy for our members to get lost in the crowd. That’s why the OB Division’s mantra is “making connections.” We want to create bridges across the boundaries that separate people with shared interests. While we provide lots of opportunity to make connections to others at our annual meeting, when you can not be physically connected, we also have the OBWeb to keep you cyber-connected!

OBWeb is one way that you can make connections with the OB Division and its members. But it’s not the only way. The OB Division also maintains a listserv that provides a forum for members to post announcements, ask questions, get answers, and engage in a dialogue about Organizational Behavior issues. If you would like to sign up for the OB listserv, follow these simple instructions.

Thanks for being part of the OB Division – the Division that makes connections!

Job Opportunities - 5 positions for postdoctoral researchers
Posted by Zukunftskolleg on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 - 11:33 AM (561 Reads)
General Announcements UNIVERSITY OF KONSTANZ

The University of Konstanz is one of the nine Universities of Excellence in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Zukunftskolleg is a central scientific institution of the University of Konstanz for the promotion of young scientists.

We are offering

5 Research Positions
(up to Salary Scale 14 TV-L)

in the fields of

a) foundations of social justice
b) mixed feelings

for the development and implementation of individual research projects / research groups. The initial appointments will commence on October 1, 2009, and end on March 31, 2011. An extension of the work contract for an additional 3.5 years will be financed by the Zukunftskolleg provided that substantial external funding for a research project has been granted.

The project outline should point out topical connections to the research profile of the University of Konstanz. The proposed project must be in one of the following research fields:
1. Foundations of social justice: In neoclassic economic theory, actors exclusively pursue their own individual interests, which raise questions about the foundations of altruism, collective rationality and social justice. From a philosophical and normative perspective, the resulting problems are still unsolved. New empirical impulses are provided by research that deals with the neuro- and socio-psychological foundations of human decisions and actions.

2. Mixed feelings: The interdisciplinary study of emotion, feeling and affect. Science’s view of emotion, feeling and affect has always been ambivalent, although they drive human action and inspire outstanding artistic and humanitarian achievements. Emotions have an individual cerebral basis but communicatory function. The many facets of emotional communication are reflected in society and the media, both of which are products of the human brain, and act back on it to shape it.

Information on Zukunftskolleg fellowships is available on our website: http://www.uni-konstanz.de/zukunftskolleg .

The full-length version of this announcement is available at: http://www-uni-konstanz.de/stellen

Applicants should send their application form, their project outline, a letter of motivation, application documents and a reading excerpt in English as a PDF file to: zukunftskolleg@uni-konstanz.de .

Deadline: May 31, 2009
